Home Gardens at a glance

Home Gardens is a small unincorporated community between Corona and Riverside. A few facts shape how portable toilet rentals work here. The census figures are from the U.S. Census Bureau:

Fact Figure
Population, 2020 census 11,203
Land area 1.51 square miles
Housing units 2,895, about 70 percent owner-occupied
ZIP code 92879, shared with part of Corona
Local government Riverside County. It lies in Corona's sphere of influence but is not in the city.

So this is a built-out neighborhood of mostly owner-occupied homes. The work here is not new subdivisions. It is people improving the houses they already own.

Where will the unit fit on a small lot?

On most Home Gardens properties the driveway is the answer. We look for:

  • A level spot near the street end of the driveway, so our service truck can reach the unit each week without driving onto the lot.
  • Room to open the door away from the neighbor's fence and your front walk.
  • Clear access on service day. A parked car in front of the unit means we cannot pump it.
  • Distance from the gutter. Keep it back from the curb and storm drain as far as the lot allows. State stormwater guidance suggests about 50 feet where possible (CASQA WM-9), which a small lot will not always give you.

A side yard works only if the truck's hose can reach. The unit needs to sit within about 30 feet of where our service truck can park. Send us a photo of the front of the house and we will tell you before delivery.

Can I put it on the street?

Not without a permit. Home Gardens is unincorporated, and anything placed in the county road right-of-way needs an encroachment permit from Riverside County Transportation (Encroachment Permits). Do not call Corona or Riverside city offices for this. Neither has authority here. Keeping the unit on your own driveway avoids the permit.

What do Home Gardens customers use them for?

Bathroom and kitchen remodels. In a home with one or two bathrooms, when one is torn out, the family and the crew are sharing what is left. A porta potty for the crew ends that. See home remodels.

Additions and ADUs. Adding a bedroom or a backyard unit takes months. See ADU construction.

Re-roofs, driveways and block walls. Short jobs with crews who are outside all day. See roofing contractors.

Family parties. Birthdays, baptisms, quinceañeras and graduations at home. One unit, or two for a larger guest list, keeps the line out of the house. See private parties.

School, church and library events. The community has a school on Tolton Avenue and a county library branch on Neece Street (Wikipedia). Carnivals and festivals at sites like these need extra restrooms and an accessible unit. See church and school events.

Shops and yards on the main roads. Small commercial and industrial properties on the main roads rent a unit during tenant work or when a building has no working restroom.

For any job with a crew, California requires one toilet per 20 workers, and a crew under five can use one single-user unit (8 CCR §1526). Our Cal/OSHA guide covers hand-washing rules.

How big a party can I hold at home?

Riverside County's temporary event rules apply. Two of them matter on small lots (County Code Ch. 17.256):

  • A wedding, birthday or graduation party at a home with up to 100 attendees does not need a county temporary event permit, for up to four events on the lot in 12 months (County Planning filing instructions).
  • Events with more than 100 attendees are prohibited on lots of 10,000 square feet or less.

For an ordinary family party you simply order the unit. For anything public or ticketed, call County Planning first. See our permit guide and the calculator for unit counts.

Delivery from Murrieta

We drive north on the I-15 to Corona, take the 91 east and come in by McKinley Street or Magnolia Avenue. It is roughly 35 to 38 miles from 26245 Monroe Ave. The 91 through Corona is one of the slowest stretches in the county at commute hours, so we time Home Gardens stops for mid-morning or early afternoon where we can.

Same-day and next-day delivery are offered. Next-day is the more dependable choice at this distance. Every day is different. The earlier you call, the better the chance of same-day delivery. We answer the phone 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week, and 24 hours for emergencies.
