Temporary Fence Rental for Job Sites and Events

Victory Portable Restrooms arranges temporary chain-link fence for construction sites, pool excavations and event perimeters in the Temecula Valley and western Riverside County. The fence comes from partner companies, not from our own yard, and it is priced by quote because every site has a different length, layout and ground surface. You can order it on the same quote as your porta potties and a dumpster, with one contact for all three.

Who supplies the fence?

Our partners do. We own and service portable toilets, ADA-accessible units and hand-wash stations from our yard at 26245 Monroe Ave in Murrieta. Temporary fence is arranged through partner fence companies that deliver, install and remove it.

We take the site details once, pass the fence portion to the partner and give you one quote.

Fence is arranged across the same service area as our portable toilets, with a 3-day lead time.

What are the two main types of temporary fence?

Almost every temporary chain-link job is one of two systems. Which one fits depends on the ground and on how long the fence will stand.

Panels on stands Driven posts
How it is built Framed chain-link panels set into weighted steel stands and clamped to each other Steel posts driven into the ground, with chain-link fabric stretched between them
Works on Asphalt, concrete, compacted dirt, grass Dirt and other soft ground
Install and removal Fast, no ground penetration Slower, needs underground utilities located first
Easy to move Yes, panels can be shifted as the site changes No, it stays where it is driven
Typical use Events, short projects, paved lots, sites that change shape Long projects on open dirt, larger perimeters
Wind Needs sandbags or bracing, more so with screen attached Stronger in wind when installed properly

Panel heights and lengths vary by supplier. If you need a specific height, say so in the quote request.

A point on driven posts: anything driven or dug into the ground in California calls for an underground utility locate first. Call 811 at least two working days before digging (Underground Service Alert, DigAlert).

What can be added to the fence?

  • Privacy screen. Also called windscreen or mesh. A fabric panel tied to the chain link that blocks the view into the site, cuts dust and gives an event a cleaner edge.
  • Gates. Walk gates for people, and wider swing or rolling gates for vehicles. Decide where trucks will enter and how wide the opening must be for your largest delivery.
  • Sandbags and bracing. Extra weight on the stands for windy or exposed sites.

Crowd-control barricades (the low steel "bike rack" style) are a different product from chain-link panels.

What is temporary fence used for?

Construction site security. A fenced site is harder to walk into after hours, which helps protect tools, materials and copper, and keeps the public away from open trenches and equipment. Many builders fence the lot before the first delivery arrives.

Pool excavations. An open pool dig in a back yard is a hazard to children and pets from the day the excavator leaves until the permanent barrier is in. Pool builders commonly fence the excavation, and the building department may require it as a condition of the permit. Ask your city or county building department what it expects during construction. See pool builders.

Event perimeters. Fairs, concerts and festivals use panels on stands to define the grounds, control entry at ticket gates, close off a beer garden and screen back-of-house areas. See festivals and concerts and fairs and carnivals.

Commercial and public sites. Longer perimeters, often with privacy screen and vehicle gates. See commercial construction and public works.

What should I measure before asking for a quote?

Fence is priced mainly by the linear foot, so the first number we need is the total length. A measuring wheel is best. A phone map with a distance tool is close enough for a first quote.

  1. Total linear feet. Walk the line where the fence will stand and add up every side. Do not subtract the gates.
  2. Gates. How many, where, and how wide. Note which ones are for vehicles.
  3. Ground surface. Asphalt, concrete, dirt, grass or a mix. This decides panels on stands versus driven posts.
  4. Slope and obstacles. Grade changes, retaining walls, trees, existing fences you want to tie into.
  5. Screen. Whether you want privacy screen on all of it, on the street side only, or none.
  6. How long you need it. Start date and expected end date. Longer rentals are priced differently from a weekend event.
  7. Public project or private. Some public projects carry prevailing-wage requirements for installation labor. Tell us if yours is one.

A quick sketch or a marked-up aerial photo helps more than a long description. Send it with the form.

How does wind affect temporary fence and privacy screen?

Bare chain link lets most of the wind through. Privacy screen does not. Once screen is tied on, each panel acts more like a sail, and a line of panels on stands can go over in a strong gust if it is not weighted and braced for it.

This matters here. Santa Ana winds blow through the Inland Empire in fall and winter, and exposed sites on hilltops, at the mouths of canyons and through the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning and Cabazon are among the most exposed.

What to do about it:

  • Tell us if the site is exposed and whether you want screen. The installer can add sandbags, braces or closer supports, or recommend driven posts.
  • If a section goes down, call. A fallen panel in a street or walkway is a hazard.

Can the fence go on the sidewalk or in the street?

Not without the city's or county's permission. Keep the fence on your own property line or inside it wherever you can.

Any part of a fence, a stand or a gate swing that sits on a sidewalk, parkway or street is in the public right-of-way, and that needs an encroachment permit first. Temecula requires one before any construction in the public right-of-way (City of Temecula encroachment permits), Murrieta requires one before placing an obstruction in a public place (Murrieta Municipal Code §15.54.040), and in unincorporated areas the County Transportation Department issues them (Riverside County Transportation). Other cities have their own versions of the same rule.

Are there local rules on fence height or screening?

We looked for city and county rules on temporary construction fence height, screening and permits in this area and did not find a clear published standard we can quote. So we are not going to state one.

Requirements, where they exist, usually arrive as conditions on your building, grading or event permit, or from an HOA. Before you order:

  • Ask the city or county building department whether your permit carries any fencing or screening condition.
  • For events, read the application. Lake Elsinore, for example, asks for the site plan to show fencing, barriers and any removable fencing for emergency access (Lake Elsinore Special Event Application). Fenced events also need enough exits, which the fire department reviews.
  • If you are in an HOA, ask about screen color and how long the fence may stay up.

Tell us what the city asked for and we will quote to match it.

Can I order fence, porta potties and a dumpster together?

Yes. Most fenced job sites also need a toilet and somewhere to put debris, so we quote them together:

  • Portable toilets and hand-wash stations from our own yard, serviced weekly. California requires one toilet and one wash station per 20 workers or fraction (Cal/OSHA §1526). Details are in the Cal/OSHA guide.
  • Temporary fence through our partners.
  • Roll-off dumpsters through our sister company, Victory Dumpsters.

Plan the layout as one piece: where the vehicle gate goes decides whether the service truck can reach the porta potty every week and whether the dumpster can be swapped without moving panels. See job site services for how the bundle works.

What does temporary fence cost?

Fence is quote-only. The price depends on total linear feet, the system (panels or driven posts), gates, screen, the rental length, and delivery, installation and removal. We will give you the full figure in writing before anything is delivered. Ask about bundle pricing when you order portable toilets together with a dumpster or fence.

Temporary fence FAQ

Do you install the fence, or do I? The partner fence company installs and removes it.

How fast can fence be delivered? Our own portable toilets can go out same day or next day. Fence has a 3-day lead time, so order it at least three days before you need it standing.

Can the fence be moved during the project? Panels on stands can be moved as the site changes. Tell us before you move a long run so the stands and clamps go back correctly. Driven-post fence stays put.

Is chain link with screen enough for a pool excavation? That is for your building department to decide. Ask what barrier they require during construction, then tell us the height and layout.

Do you serve my city? Fence is arranged across the same service area as our portable toilets. See service areas.
