Standard and Construction Portable Toilets
The porta potty is the single-user unit most people picture: a free-standing cabin with its own holding tank. Victory Portable Restrooms rents it for two kinds of use. A standard portable toilet is for events, parties and home projects. A construction portable toilet is for job sites, with weekly service. Both are delivered from our Murrieta yard. Construction portable toilets start at $189 per 28 days with weekly service included, and event rentals start at $189 per unit, plus a delivery and pickup fee.
Do I order a standard unit or a construction unit?
It depends on what the toilet is for. We name the two by use. Both need no water or sewer connection and can sit anywhere a service truck can reach.
| Standard portable toilet | Construction portable toilet | |
|---|---|---|
| Rented for | Events, parties and home projects | Job sites |
| Billing | Per unit for the event | Per 28 days |
| Service | Delivered clean and stocked; serviced between days on multi-day events | Pumped, cleaned and restocked with toilet paper weekly |
| Delivery and pickup | The day before or the morning of your event, with pickup afterward or the next day | Same-day or next-day delivery when available; two business days' notice for pickup when you can |
| Starting price | $189 per unit | $189 per 28 days |
If you are unsure which to order, tell us what it is for and how long you need it. Job site rentals bill in 28-day periods. Shorter rentals are available for special events.
How big is a standard porta potty?
Our standard unit is the Satellite Tufway. These are the manufacturer's published figures (Satellite Industries):
| Measurement | Satellite Tufway |
|---|---|
| Footprint | 44 inches wide by 48 inches deep, about 4 feet square |
| Height | 91 inches, about 7.5 feet |
| Door opening | 73 inches tall by 24 inches wide |
| Seat height | 18.75 inches |
| Holding tank | 70 gallons |
| Empty weight | 164 pounds |
Inside there is a toilet seat, a urinal, a coat hook and molded wall vents for airflow.
For planning, allow a spot roughly 5 feet square for each unit so the door can swing open and people can queue. Leave overhead clearance for the roof vent, and leave a path for the service truck. The unit needs to sit within about 30 feet of where our service truck can park.
California's field sanitation rule gives a useful baseline for farm and vineyard work. Each toilet must have at least 8 square feet of floor space, and a chemical toilet's waste tank must hold at least 40 gallons (Title 8 §3457).
How many uses does a unit handle between services?
There is no single figure, because it depends on tank size and what the unit is used for. Two published planning numbers help.
On job sites. The portable sanitation industry's long-standing rule of thumb is one unit for about 10 workers on a 40-hour week when the unit is serviced once a week. California law is separate from that guideline and sets the legal minimum at one toilet per 20 employees or fraction of 20 (Cal/OSHA §1526). A site that meets the legal minimum with a full crew of 20 on one unit should plan on service more than once a week.
At events. The Portable Sanitation Association International chart assumes no pumping during the event. It calls for 5 units for 500 people over four hours, which works out to about one unit per 100 guests for a half-day event (PSAI). Longer hours and alcohol raise the count.
Signs a unit needs service sooner: the tank level is close to the seat opening, the paper runs out before service day, or the odor is noticeable with the door closed. Call us and we will add a visit.
For an exact count, use the porta potty calculator. For the worker rules, see the Cal/OSHA guide.
What gets cleaned and restocked on a service visit?
On each visit the driver:
- Pumps the holding tank empty.
- Washes and sanitizes the seat, walls, floor and door handle.
- Adds fresh water and deodorizer to the tank.
- Restocks toilet paper.
- Checks the unit for damage.
Toilet paper is the only supply restocked in the toilet. Our units do not have hand sanitizer dispensers, so we recommend adding a hand-wash station with water, soap and paper towels, which we refill on the same visit.
Weekly service is included on 28-day rentals. Event units arrive clean and fully stocked, and multi-day events are serviced between days.
Cal/OSHA requires job site toilets to be kept clean, in working order and supplied with toilet paper at all times (§1526). If a unit runs out of paper or is vandalized between visits, call us. The phone is answered 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day, and around the clock for emergencies.
Who is each unit right for?
The construction unit suits:
- General contractors and subs on any active site. See porta potties for general contractors.
- Homeowners and remodelers on jobs that run a month or more. See home remodels.
- Pool, landscape and roofing crews working outside a home with no access to the house. See pool builders and roofing contractors.
- Farms, vineyards and other outdoor employers.
All construction trades are listed on the construction porta potty rental page.
The standard unit suits:
- Backyard parties, graduations and receptions. See private parties.
- Youth sports, school and church events. See sports tournaments.
- Fairs, festivals and markets, alongside accessible units and hand-wash stations. See event porta potty rental.
When a standard unit is not enough:
- A public event needs at least one ADA-accessible unit in every group of toilets.
- Our units do not have hand sanitizer dispensers, so any order is better with a hand-wash station. A job site with five or more workers needs one outside the unit.
- A wedding or formal event may call for a restroom trailer, which we arrange through our partner.

Standard and construction unit FAQ
Is there hand sanitizer inside? No. Our units do not have hand sanitizer dispensers. Add a hand-wash station so people can wash with soap and water.
Does the unit have a light? Most portable toilets have a translucent roof that lets daylight in and no electric light. For evening events, place units under existing lighting or bring a light.
Can the unit be locked? You can padlock a unit overnight with your own lock. Leave it unlocked, or give us the combination, on service day.
Can one unit serve both men and women? Yes. Single-user units are commonly marked for all-gender use. On job sites, Cal/OSHA's rule is written per 20 employees of each sex. Our Cal/OSHA guide explains how single-user units are counted.
How much space does the truck need? The unit needs to sit within about 30 feet of where our service truck can park. Tell us about narrow gates, steep driveways or soft ground when you book.
Will the unit smell? A serviced unit with fresh deodorizer in the tank and a clear vent should not have a strong odor. Heat and heavy use shorten the time between services. Shade helps.
Can I move the unit myself? Please call us to move it. A unit with waste in the tank is heavy and can spill, and the new spot still has to be reachable by the truck. We can move a unit when we are on site for your regular service. If you need it moved sooner and we have to make a special trip, a relocation fee applies, and the amount depends on the location.
What if a unit is tipped over or damaged? If a unit is tipped over or damaged, call us and we will reset, clean or replace it. The renter is responsible for damage beyond normal wear, and a service fee may apply. On windy or exposed sites, ask us about staking or tying down the units.
Do you deliver outside Murrieta? Yes. We deliver across the Temecula Valley and western and central Riverside County. All cities are listed under porta potty rental.
